Spencer Bridges

About Me:

My name is Spencer Bridges. I am a 16 year-old Junior from Summit, New Jersey embarking on a 4-month surf trip across the globe to really improve my surfing - my own version of the Endless Summer. I go to a regular school and I get really good grades. But I love to surf. When I was 8, my dad got me a surf lesson at the Nantucket Island Surf School and ever since then I have never wanted to do anything other than surf. I have competed in the Surfing America USA Championships, the NSSA Nationals, and the Eastern Surfing Association Eastern Championships (making the semi-final in Junior Men in 2014). I am very proud to be an ESA All Star.  I also have great sponsors – WRV, Body Glove, Monster Energy, Jetty, Reflekt Polarized, and Easternlines Surf Shop.

About the Trip:

I am taking a 6 month leave of absence to go on a surf trip. Many of the kids I compete against are home-schooled. So while I do really well for a surfer from the Northeast, I want the opportunity to take my surfing to the next level. This trip is not a vacation. This trip is not even a trip of exploration around the world. This trip is about someone pursuing their dream of becoming the best surfer they can be. I start in Nosara, Costa Rica for a warm up week, then head back to NJ to get ready for 2 months of training – 3 weeks on the North Shore of Oahu, followed by a week with the ESA All Stars in Hawaii. Then I head to Torquay, Australia for 2 weeks, and then to the Hurley High Performance Center on the Gold Coast for another 14 days. Follow along.
